The power that the blazer has on menswear is undeniable. Not only is it a must-have for any man, but it can symbolize anything - from the epitome of class to the hard core dirtiness of rock n roll. Preview Report | Book Club S/S 09-10

Who can deny the pull of a collection that includes trousers and shorts like these? I sure can't. Relatively casual, the collection seems to focus on the trousers and shorts, balancing them out with casual white canvas shirts that give all attention to their more important counterparts. Fit above the knee and ankle, the trousers and shorts are detailed with interesting pockets while continuing to remain casual. And this is just the preview...

Paris Fashion Week | Paul Smith S/S 2010

Paul Smith has come out brand new with this season's look. While we very much associate Paul Smith with classics, this season they came with modern, hip, and fresh looks that are a complete opposite of what we expect from them...and that is not a bad thing. Inspired by global jet setting, the collection features an assembly of vivid and diverse colors along with a variety of fits. Casual, loose fitting tees are paired with trousers both loose and fit that make the collection one for the masses. Classic Paul Smith suits also make an appearance with a new aesthetic. We can dig it.

Shoe Report | Alexander McQueen Spring 2009

Bright, bold, and catchy, Alexander McQueen presented beautifully patterned footwear for their spring 2009 collection. Modeling somewhat of a marble floor, jaw-breaker look, the design aesthetic is one of classic types with interesting splashes of color. I like what I see...and need more.

Paris Fashion Week | Maison Martin Margiela S/S 2010

Maison Martin Margiela's latest collection is based around a white canvas, helping to focus on other aspects of their design aesthetic. Focused on a floral motif, the collection uses it in a minimalistic manner, only bringing more attention to the wonderfully cut suit jackets and much more. Thick knitwear is also included, interestingly enough for the spring, while the suits remain the most positive attribute. Details are impeccable and so is the collection.

Paris Fashion Week | Lanvin S/S 2010

While Lanvin usually goes with a softer look for their collections, this time around Lucas Ossendrijver decided to edge up their look with 'street wear', if you will. Compiled of high-waist trousers, jackets and blazers, the collection is relatively classic with a bit of fun. A statues silhouette is created thanks to the way the trousers compliment the tops with longevity. Dramatic in some ways, balloon sleeves are added along with well tailored jackets that rebel against the norm with cut sleeves and bold patterns. The color palette is largely dark, however red, green, orange and purple are included as well to mix things up. Daring looks that are sophisticated for the modern man.

Style Icon - Michael Jackson 1959 - 2009

No one can deny the musical genius that is Michael Jackson. Without a doubt the most famous and well known person in the world, the King of Pop is the single most influential person in modern music and has influenced the world with such hits as "Thriller", "Beat It", "Billie Jean" and "We Are the World". Known to make all - from young girls to grown men - faint at his sight, MJ topped the charts with trans-generational and cultural hits and his gravity defying dance moves. His appearance is one of the most recognizable - and evolving - in the world and he garnered much criticism about it. With all of the controversy that surrounded him, he will forever live on in memory as a creative and musical god. For me, he will also live on as a style icon. Known for his sparkle, one gloved hand, hats, and militaristic jackets, he without a doubt had a style that was his own, and he remained true to it. From the red leather motorcycle jacket he rocked in the “Beat It” video; the white ankle socks, black fedora and black loafers he wore when he moonwalked to the aviator sunglasses he toured in during the “Thriller”and the white v-neck he always seemed to strip down to while onstage. Years since, he continues to inspire through that unique style that was his own. Even Balmain sent a Jackson inspired military jacket down the runway for spring 2009, being worn by celebrities like Beyoncé Knowles and Rihanna. And his music will always remain staple soundtrack for runways and homes alike throughout the world. Need we say it but, Long Live the King. More pictures after the jump.

With Raf Simons showing snakes on everything this season, it comes as no surprise that their monkstraps Simons featured with crisscrossed serpentine detailing. Classic with a bit of extra fun. Just what anyone working in DC needs. John Galliano went in a similar direction. His Napoleonic collection featured ankle-high boots that also featured leather overlays.
