Collection Report | Burberry Lifestyle Menswear A/W 2009

Burberry, never one to fail or miss a beat, continues in their ode to classic London style with their Burberry Lifestyle Menswear A/W 2009 collection. Not much that we can express that we haven't already when it comes to Burberry considering every collection is a tad synonymous - which surprisingly is a good thing. Fashion changes so often so its good to have a constant reminder of where menswear started. Burberry succeeds effortlessly in this.

As expensive as they tend to be, its a fact of life that leaves too many recycling suits that are not only out dated, but ill-fitting. Easy fix - give Cheap Monday your eye. For around $300 you can grab a well cut slim jacket, trousers to match, that result in a ready to go suit. Available via Alter.

Collection Report | John Lawrence Sullivan S/S 2010

At a quick glance-over John Lawrence Sullivan's latest collection alludes a chaotic assembly of trendy pieces that creates a fashion-forward mess, one not acceptable in DC. Slow down, smell the roses, and actually dissect the collection and you will find the greatness of it. Composed of everything - from suiting pieces and ripped denim to leather outerwear and "Tina Turner inspired trousers" - the collection gives way to an endless amount of possibilities that can be used in every aspect of your life. Blazers abound, the collection is perfect to score through for workwear, Ripped denim for your more casual outings, and avant-garde pieces for the fashion forward side in your heart. Pay close attention to the outerwear, they are a dream come true. A color-palette that touches on every speck of a rainbow, silhouettes vary but stick to a basic, clear fit that is in every way masculine. Trousers are seen throughout in any imaginable fashion and sheer tops make an appearance too. Without any clear direction, Sullivan provides an assembly of heavenly bliss.

Collection Report | Bespoken F/W 2009

Interesting side note - in Old England "bespoke" was a term used for tailored clothing with the customers surname written on the fabric...the garment was "spoken for". This provides a clear explanation for the Bespoken F/W 2009 collection which makes use of some of the same old English manufacturing processes for their garments, giving way for quality and craftsmanship. The range features some of the most impeccable fitting outerwear and blazers that Ive seen since...Old England. Clean lines are present allowing for the quality and fit to speak for itself. Composed of blazers, trousers, knitwear and shirts, the collection is one that deserves to find its way to your closet. More information via Bespoken.

Outerwear Report | Christopher Raeburn Rain or Combat?

Christopher Raeburn's outerwear is ready for combat, against the elements of the weather...and war. Surprisingly, his pop-out parka has a shell made of recycled military parachutes and a reversible button-out interior jacket that is lined with British wool and Cold War camouflage print. And while his pieces from his Spring 2010 were, without doubt, not meant for actual war combat, its always good to have that option. Stylish as ever, each of his coats are durable, quality driven, and perfect for the rainy weather. And the fun, translucent coloring adds a fresh feeling to the normally traditional rain coats that are all over the market now. Available here.

Footwear Report | Mr. Haze S/S 2010

Mr. Haze predicts a change for next summer, shying away from the casualness of the boat shoe and going for a more serious mode of action. For his S/S 2010 collection he takes the smart approach with loafers, suede bucks, mandals and even sneakers that are the epitome of Mr. Haze - which is saying a lot. Quality is superb and innovation is there with the reintroduction of classic styles that are past-overdue.
My SS10 collection is named ‘Hot Steppers’ and all the styles are named after dancehall generals who have burnt down dancehalls all around the equator. Cachao, King Tubby, Phil Spector, J.Dilla, Jerry Lee Lewis etc. So yeah – don’t test the champion sound.
